The members of our team have been carefully selected, trained and educated to support you in your goal to achieve a lifelong healthy weight. We believe in forging a lasting relationship with every patient and are anxious to meet you! Our staff includes two fellowship-trained bariatric surgeons, dieticians, medical assistants and more. Our services include not only weight loss surgery, but also non-surgical weight loss assistance, nutritional counseling and support groups. With office hours in Fairfield, Ohio and Anderson, Ohio, we're conveniently located around the Mercy Health network of care.
C. Joe Northup, M.D., F.A.C.S. — Medical Director
Dr. Northup is the medical director and principal bariatric surgeon for Mercy Healthy Weight Solutions. Dr. Northup completed his surgical training at the Medical College of Ohio and went on to complete an advanced laparoscopic and bariatric fellowship at the University of Virginia.
After completing his fellowship, Dr. Northup was invited to join the faculty of the University of Virginia (UVA) Department of Surgery. He was appointed as Medical Director of the bariatric surgery program there, and developed the Bariatric Center of Excellence for UVA.
In December of 2007, he joined Mercy Health Partners. He has since worked to develop Mercy Healthy Weight Solutions, one of the Cincinnati area's most complete weight loss programs. As an experienced bariatric surgeon, Dr. Joe Northup is dedicated to helping each patient find the weight loss solution that is right for them.
Dr. Northup is a member of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (ASMBS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is a BLIS-certified surgeon . He serves on national committees for the ASMBS and SAGES. Having personally performed more than 700 bariatric surgery procedures, Dr. Northup has extensive experience treating patients who suffer from excess weight.
Mohamed I. Dahman, M.D., Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Dahman is a bariatric surgeon for Mercy Healthy Weight Solutions. He completed his surgical training, as well as an advanced laparascopic and bariatric fellowship, at the University of Virginia. Following his fellowship, Dr. Dahman served as Clinical Instructor for the Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia until joining Mercy Healthy Weight Solutions in 2011.
Dr. Dahman is an experienced bariatric surgeon that is passionate about the individualized weight loss journey for each patient. He believes that bariatric surgery can be a tool to help patients in their lifelong journey to maintain healthy weight.
The specialties performed by Dr. Dahman include bariatric surgery, general surgery, laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
Anne Erisman, MPAS, PA-C
Anne Erisman is a physician assistant and the program coordinator for Mercy Healthy Weight Solutions. She received her PA training at Kettering College of Medical Arts in Dayton. She completed her master’s degree at The University of Nebraska. She has worked in bariatrics over the past seven years. She is a member of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (ASMBS). Her favorite part of working in bariatrics is being a part of helping people become healthier and happier.
Heidi Keppler, RD, LD - Dietitian
Heidi Keppler received her bachelor degree in psychology from Indiana University and finished her Dietetic certification from the University of Cincinnati. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She has more than 15 years of experience in clinical, community and government settings. She has worked with diabetes and weight management for the past 8 1/2 years.
Shelly Keyer - Registrar
Shelly has worked in healthcare for over ten years. She is the friendly face you will meet as she greets you with a smile in the front lobby of our office. Her favorite part of working at Mercy Healthy Weight Solutions is seeing patients become more and more confident and happy throughout the weight loss process!
